I get bored easily at work so I started a "This Day in History" thing on my whiteboard (cuz it's otherwise blank). Today's is car related!

Kinja'd!!!

1935: Sir Malcolm Campbell became the first person to drive an automobile over 300 mph. He reached 304.331 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

His car was called the "Bluebird"

Now you know.

This version of the Bluebird was powered by the Rolls Royce R engine, which was a highly volatile racing prototype of the Merlin producing over 2500 hp. In 1934.
